Q2: Which areas of the country do you work in?

 

We primarily serve clients in the West Midlands, Staffordshire, Worcestershire, Leicestershire, Shropshire, Warwickshire. For the right project we are able to travel further afield. We also offer a supply only service across the whole UK.

 

 

Q3: Do you work outside of the UK?

 

We offer our supply only service to the USA, and channel islands.

 

 

Q4: What sets your wooden windows and doors apart from others in the market?

 

Our wooden windows and doors are crafted with precision and care using the latest machine technology such as CNC and finished by hand. Our windows and doors have been designed using decades of experience so that whilst they look traditional, they are energy efficient and utilise the latest high security locking systems. We use high-quality materials and offer options in engineered hardwood and Accoya timber, which are painted in house with the Teknos paint system ensuring durability, elegance, and energy efficiency in every product.

 

 

Q5: What are the benefits of using Accoya timber in your joinery products?

 

Accoya timber offers exceptional durability, stability, and sustainability. It's sourced from responsibly managed forests and undergoes a unique acetylation process, making it resistant to decay, water, and insects, ensuring longevity and environmental responsibility. The dimensional stability ensures that doors do not stick during the winter periods and also means that the paint finish will last longer, up to 12 years when Accoya is used.

 

 

Q6: How much does an orangery or conservatory cost?

 

The cost of an orangery or conservatory can vary widely depending on factors such as size, design complexity, materials, and additional features. We offer bespoke solutions tailored to your needs. To provide an accurate cost estimate we would conduct a consultation to understand your requirements in detail. Prices usually start from £30,000 +VAT plus any building works.

Q7: Do you offer a design service for orangeries and conservatories?

 

Yes, we provide a comprehensive design service for orangeries and conservatories. Our team works closely with customers to create bespoke designs tailored to their preferences and the architectural style of their home.

 

We have extensive experience working on historical and period properties and can customize our joinery products to match specific architectural styles and historical aesthetics, ensuring seamless integration with the property's character.

 

 

Q8: Why choose Timber over PVC or Aluminium?

 

We want the product that we manufacture to be durable, sustainable and aesthetically pleasing. We prioritize high-quality, low-maintenance, and eco-friendly products. Timber aligns perfectly with these principles.

 

In the construction of our products, we primarily offer Engineered Red Grandis as our Hardwood option or Accoya. We do incorporate other materials where there is a benefit to do so, applied glazing bars and large column mouldings can often be problematic in timber so these are manufactured from a timber and resin composite to ensure they retain the same look but eliminate any problems they would normally cause. We use aluminium roof cappings to cover the exteriors of our roof lanterns to reduce maintenance.

 

Opting for timber over aluminium or PVC allows us to incorporate detail on both the interior and exterior of our garden rooms with depth and character. We can achieve traditional flush joints, sharp edges and corners, and traditional or contemporary mouldings, enhancing the overall aesthetics and feeling of the room. Moreover, timber offers the flexibility of repainting, providing you with the option to change the color in the future.

 

 

Q9: What type of glazing do you use?

 

Our recommended glazing is 4-16-4 toughened clear, argon filled sealed units with Low E coating and warm edge spacer bar as standard. Options of laminated, self-cleaning and solar reflective glass are available, as well as slimmer double glazed units, triple glazed units and single glass depending on the product. In our roof lanterns we use solar reflective, self cleaning glass as standard.

 

We glaze in line with the Glass and Glazing Federation (GGF) standards. This means we use a single double glazed unit with bonded Georgian bars or leaded detail to achieve a multi pane look. Glazing in this way means that the window will perform to modern standards, be less likely to fail and yet still give the elegant look of traditional fenestration.

 

 

Q10  How much maintenance is required?

 

We offer maintenance guidelines to ensure the longevity of our joinery products. Proper care, including regular cleaning and occasional treatments, can significantly extend the life of your wooden windows, doors, or conservatories.

 

To maintain the warranty we recommend washing down the woodwork at least once a year to remove contaminants such as bird droppings and industrial fallout that can compromise the paint coating.

 

We leave a small tin of paint with each project so that any damage to woodwork can be repaired and recoated easily. The paint finish will last anywhere from 8 to 12 years depending on the material chosen. This will be less if you choose to have a translucent stain finish.

 

 

Q11 How secure are your windows and doors?

 

We design and manufacture our standard line of windows and doors to meet the standards set out by PAS 24.

 

 

Q12: How long does the design and installation process typically take?

 

The timeline varies based on the complexity of the project and the customization requirements. We provide estimated timelines during the consultation phase and work efficiently to ensure timely completion without compromising quality. A normal orangery will take roughly 4 to 5 weeks from start of installation to it being water tight and ready for following trades to finish off.

 

 

Q13: What kind of customer support do you offer after the installation is complete?

 

We standby the products that we manufacture and therefore offer dedicated customer support after the installation. If you have any questions, concerns, or require assistance with your joinery products, our team is readily available to provide support and guidance, ensuring your satisfaction even after the project is finished.

 

 

Q14: How long will the paint last?

 

Our joinery products are protected with Teknos Paint, a high-quality, micro-porous, water-based paint that offers exceptional durability. With proper maintenance, including periodic repainting, Teknos Paint can last for many years, ensuring the longevity and aesthetic appeal of your joinery. The actual length of time that the paint will last can vary depending on the material chosen and the colour of the paint. A solid colour on Accoya can be expected to last up to 12 years whilst a solid colour on Engineered Red Grandis can be expected to last up to 8 years. Translucent stain finishes will not last as long and will require more frequent maintenance.

 

 

Q15: What is the guarantee?

 

We take pride in the quality of our workmanship and materials. We offer a comprehensive guarantee on our joinery products, ensuring they are free from defects and will stand the test of time. The specific details of the guarantee can depend on the type of product but standard products and paint finishes are covered by a 10 year material guarantee, a 5 year paint guarantee and a 5 year glass and glazing guarantee.

 

We supply a care and maintenance document with our products to ensure customers know exactly how to look after their products.   

 

 

Q16: Do I need planning permission for a conservatory or orangery?

 

Planning permission requirements vary based on your location, the size, and design of the orangery or conservatory, and whether your property is listed or located within a conservation area. We can assist you in navigating the planning permission process and ensure compliance with local regulations.

 

A single storey rear extension must not extend beyond the rear of the original house by more than 6m for an attached house or by 8m for a detached house. If the proposed Garden Room is outside of these conditions, then planning permission is normally required.

 

You don’t need to have planning permission in place before you get in touch as we can take care of this process on your behalf.

 

Q17: Do I need a builder?

 

You will need a builder to take care of the foundations, brickwork and plastering. We will take care of the design, planning permissions, structural calculations for the orangery or conservatory and install the main super structure ensuring that the orangery or conservatory is water tight. We will supply working drawings to your builder for them to construct the base work.
