Wooden Briquettes

16-01-2017 Wooden Briquettes

Midland Conservatories aren’t just committed to designing and manufacturing the finest wooden Orangeries, Conservatories, Windows & Doors but also doing our bit to help the environment.

We already know that wooden windows and doors are the most environmentally option when it comes to replacing your windows and doors. Timber from sustainably managed forests means that most timber windows and timber doors are almost carbon neutral. (Read more on this in our next news post). Midland Conservatories have gone a step further; our waste sawdust is collected and recycled to form our wooden briquettes to be used as fuel.

All of our wooden sawdust is collected through our dust extraction system and fed to our briquette machine. Our briquette machine compresses the sawdust under high pressure. This pressure produces heat which releases the natural oils of the wood which when it cools helps to bond together the briquette.

With no added chemicals or bonding agents we are left with a dense wooden briquette made purely from our waste wood sawdust. These briquettes are bagged up and sold from our premises here in Cannock, Staffordshire to help people heat their homes.

Just another way that our timber windows really are the greener choice!
